CHAS - Cheque Presentation

Twenty-two participants enjoyed The Highland Fling 2006 Tour which took place over the first weekend in October. I wanted to share with as many people as possible the thrill of driving on mostly traffic-free roads through spectacular scenery whilst staying at Coul House. This family run hotel gave us all a warm welcome and wonderful food. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner, Stuart Macpherson and his staff.
All those taking part were asked to make a donation in lieu of an entrance fee. Their generosity was unbounded as they also contributed to the raffle held after the Gala Dinner and on the Sunday evening they bid for a bottle of malt whisky and a polar bear which were being auctioned. These items had been kindly donated by Tim Kent, the manager of the Falls of Shin (known locally as the Harrods of the North). He had agreed to our displaying the cars in a special area of the car park and advertised the fact that we would be there. Members of the public were also made aware of our presence through posters put up around the area by a CHAS volunteer. Their efforts were much appreciated. All this resulted in a very good response from the members of the public who came both to see the cars and to support CHAS. A formal presentation has now been made to Barbara Osborne, CHAS Fundraising Manager and was attended by 11 Polar Bears. Cheques totalling £550 were handed over. In total £1,120 has been donated from this event, of which £620 was gift aided. We have requested that the money, having been raised in the Highlands, goes towards maintaining the Rachel House at Home Team which is based in Inverness and supports families in their own homes thus complementing the services of the hospice at Kinross. A very big “thank you” to all who contributed. Fiona Davies
