Scala Motorsport 2006 season update

 Home

The Sporting Bears stickers on the Scala Motorsport MGZR have certainly seen some action during our 2006 season.  After 12 rounds we finished tied in 5th place in the MG Trophy Championship.  In all 24 cars took part in the championship which was open to MGTF and MGZR fully race prepared cars.  We raced at all the well-known circuits in the UK and the big Silverstone 3 day MG International weekend in June experienced crowds in excess of 35,000.  Our highlights of the season were our 3rd in class and Driver of the Day at Donington in May and our 3rd place overall and 2nd in class in our first race of the double header at Brands Hatch in July.  (Don’t ask what happened in the second race!)

With very positive news coming in from China on the resumption of MG production in Nanjing and a new MG plant in Oklahoma as well as possible resumption of MG manufacture at Longbridge, things are looking good for MG once again.  We hope that this news will rekindle interest in the MG brand and help to swell the grids and make the 2007 season special.

Our racecar is now being prepared for next years season where we once again plan to enter the prestigious MG Trophy Championship.  At the time of writing no 2007 race dates have been announced but reference to our web site www.scalamotorsport.co.uk will give these as soon as they are known.  Also full details of our 2006 season including a photo gallery can be viewed.

Our previous invitation to any of you Sporting Bears to join us in the pit garages next year is repeated, just come along and introduce yourselves to us and find out what top level club motorsport is all about.
