Highland Fling 2007

BOOK FOR 2008

This year's Highland Fling was attended by 18 cars and we took over the whole of Coul House Hotel in Contin. The weather was mostly dry and we had some glorious sunshine as well as atmospheric mist in the mountains and glens. Friday night started with dinner and a limerick contest to sharpen the Bears' minds. Saturday was a circuitous drive to Inverewe Gardens on traffic free roads through spectacular autumn scenery - mountains, lochs, etc. The task for the day was to find the most beautiful leaf. Saturday night was our Gala Dinner night. A four course meal followed the Champagne reception and an auction and raffle raised £360 for CHAS, our nominated charity. Prizes were given for Best Leaf (Juliet Middleton) and Best Dressed Man (Keith Davison). On Sunday we visited Little Ferry Kart Track and Dunrobin Castle, where we raised another £120 from the public. We were met at Dunrobin by the Highland MG Club whose members donated generously and whose cars swelled our numbers for the display. Bears enjoyed a visit to the Castle and a most excellent falconry display. Sunday evening dinner was followed by speeches and presentations. Monday's route home (for most of us) was across country to Loch Ness, along the Caledonian Canal to Spean Bridge and east through "Monarch of the Glen" country to finish up at the House of Bruar on the A9. No doubt a report will appear in Bear Facts as soon as the scribe has recovered.
