Supercar Sunday Gaydon

Home

As the day approached it looked as though the weather gods had it in for this year’s event. The prediction was for rain and the preceding days were indeed wet but come the day the sun came out and with our new location at the centre of the site the Bears looked forward to another busy Dream Rides.

There was a good diversity of cars on offer and as they all made their individual entry interest in the rides area grew. With the new club flag flying no one was left in doubt where the Bears were. In addition Russ Swift had his display area next door so all of the action was centred on the Bears.

As in previous years the take up of rides grew as the day went on. Russ promoted our activity as well as raising a significant amount by auctioning the passenger seats in his car during the display.

With a good number of bears to help run the rides everything ran smoothly even in a crowded parking area. By the end of the day provisional figures indicated that we had set a new record for the event of over £4,000 an amount that staggered the representatives of the Williams syndrome foundation who were present.  Overall the activity was well received and everyone went away with a feeling that they had enjoyed another busy but productive day with the Bears.  In Sept a cheque was presented to the foundation, at Gaydon, for £4,500
