Charity Classic - 2006 - Kimbolton

Home

We sat down during the afternoon trying to work out how many years Andy, Mike, Mitch and myself have been organising our clubs National Day. It was 1990 or 91 when we first set up at Wimpole Hall with a few TR3,4,5,and 6's and some local clubs for a picnic. We are getting pretty good at it now and this year was no exception.

We always wanted it to be a day out for the whole family and  since outgrowing Wimpole and moving to Kimbolton it has certainly become an event that gets added to peoples diaries early.

700 to 800 cars this year and many clubs entering into the spirit with donations on the day. £180 from Club Lotus, £130 from TVR, £100 from Westfield, £100 from the MX-5 club and various amounts from the smaller clubs makes it all worthwhile organising for 9 months of the year!! Thank you.

Loads of children's entertainment ranging from funfair rides to bungy jumps and punch and judy keeps the kids happy. Craft and trade stalls and events in the arena also keep the non car nut's happy! Big Bands music and various dancing is always a great attraction with children and adults alike all soaking up the atmosphere.
The beer tent was busy all day, as were the ice cream vans and catering areas. The sun shone without a cloud in the sky and a steady stream of the public paid to get in all day long.
A massive thank you to all those involved from the Kimbolton Rotary Club and Bears members. Some marshalled and helped for hours during the day.
It's pretty safe to say we will be there again next year. Third Sunday in July so add it to your diaries now.
