Kimbolton 2004

Home

What a day we all had once again at Kimbolton. The Bears were this year present at both ends of the site. The Dream Rides were situated near to the Castle for ease of access to the roads. They were joined by Sheila's pick a straw. Near to the main arena was the tent selling bears, regalia and raffle tickets. It was also the centre for the all important Bears refreshments.

Just outside the tent was the beautiful Bentley with a Merlin engine pictured right. It really did sound impressive when fired up for its trips into the arena.

Bear sales went well and by the end we had only got the stock which was on display. A steady flow of customers kept us busy all day. Regalia went steadily especially Mick's shirts which are very well worth purchasing.

Showers came and went but the public were prepared to shelter and wait for better weather as there was so much to see and do. It was once again a credit to the planning of the Kimbolton committee.

Attendance looked to be good and there was a fine display of cars to be seen around the show ground. As usual there were many stalls selling country style products. Inside the castle there were specialist artists at craft stalls selling a range of high quality goods.

Once again old favourites graced the main arena including the Brookfield Shires, Pacesetters Dog Display Team, Norman Seamark and his geese, and the Cambridgeshire Raptor Foundation.

Due to rain at their base in Lincolnshire the Battle of Britain Flight was not able to do their long awaited fly past although they were re scheduled during the day. Hopefully we will see them next year.

On speaking to Heather a few days after the show an estimated £16000 had been raised. If this is true it looks likely that a new record has been reached for Kimbolton. It also would herald the breaking of the half million pound mark for Sporting Bears charity donations.
