Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

July 17th and 18th 2010

This new-ish event takes place over the weekend July 17th and 18th in the beautiful grounds of Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley) Castle, where the Cholmondeley family have resided since Norman times. The Picturesque Gothick castle that now stands on the site was built in the early 19th century. Set this against the passion for motors - a notable example was the Alfa Romeo 8C which the Marquess collected from Milan in 1932 and, travelling via his home in the South of France, it was immediately entered for a race from Paris to Nice, finishing 5th. So with all this in the blood it's no surprise they now have a track built in the grounds and have launched the PAGEANT OF POWER to open this passion with other Petrolheads over a fun fuelled weekend. 

Please read the report on our first Dream Rides event here in 2009 which was only the second year of the event itself, especially the notes on the weather with wellies and unbrellas in hand we believe 2010 we will be bathed in glorious sunshine!  We raised £2,500 working with Children in the Army Benevolent Fund and for 2010 we are yet to finalise the Charity.  see the cheque presentation

Check out the www.cpop.co.uk website for the full details where you can see some footage of the 2008 inaugural event with Powerboats, Motorcycles and Helicopters on top of classic and exotic cars on the track. The Club Stands were complimented with displays from the Dancing Diggers and the Army used Challenger 2 Tanks in anger, although the best display was the Army APC tracked unit being pulled out by a farmers tractor! We have been invited back offering Dream Rides to show the public how much fun we can have and how watching great cars trackside needn’t be the highlight of he day as they enjoy our hands on experience.

There is camping available for the dedicated and 2009 on the Saturday Night they had Marching Bands with cannons and fireworks. We will also have a suitable hotel located and hopefully the team at Frontdesk.co.uk will be able to secure the Bears special rates again. The event is within a 15mile radius to the Historic City of Chester, market town of Whitchurch and the M6 at Crewe/Nantwich.

For all Bears who helped 2009 a BIG THANK YOU and I will be emailing and asking you again to help in 2010 with the promise that we will all laugh about the rain afterwards!!!! Come and join us to support the stand, help out on any or both days as we need your support to offer Dream Rides on the same weekend as our commitment to Kimbolton.
