It may have escaped the notice of some that this year Sporting Bears celebrate 21 years of having fun with their cars and raising money for children’s charities. It has not gone un-noticed by our friends at the NEC who have suggested that they would be interested in making a feature of this historic milestone at the Classic car Show this year. Even more attention could be focused on our “Dream Rides” activity at the show which should give us even greater opportunity to raise both the clubs profile and the money raised. With every opportunity comes a new challenge and if we are to take advantage we must respond positively. You can play a major part in making this years’ effort the best yet and set new standards for the future “Dream Rides” at the NEC. We need to make our 2010 presentation of the Sporting Bears bigger and better than ever before by doing the following
The club Stand The static display on the club stand must include a display of outstanding quality that reflects the clubs wide interest in cars. We need at least six special cars that will stop people in their tracks. We need rare, excusive and exotic cars as well as quirky and bizarre. We need examples of more popular classics and sportscars that demonstrate the clubs breadth of ownership. In short we should try to draw together the best club display of cars at the show.
The “Dream Rides” activity This year we should aim to eclipse all previous years by bringing together the biggest and best mix of cars ever assembled to offer passenger “Dream Rides” to those attending the show. To do this we need at least 80 cars a day and especially those that that attract a premium donation to the charity collection. In addition we need to be able to take advantage of the Show organiser’s offer of making bigger than ever publicity opportunities available to us.
To achieve the above your club needs you and your cars. We need Bears to commit to taking part at the NEC in whatever way they can the earlier the better. The sooner we know what cars are attending the sooner the publicity can start. So those who have the odd McLaren F1, Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, Fiat 500, Ford model T etc. get them out and enter them for the stand or the “Dream Rides” but please do it sooner rather than later. If you haven’t a car to enter just come along yourself and join the other Bears making this final activity of this historic year something very special.
