Hello everybody, here is the first listing for 2011 with all the events I am involved with others on the website. For those technically minded we have www.sportingbears.org.uk with an events page, I have a Facebook page just for Bears items I attend which is Sporting Bears Max where you can look at photos of previous events and over March I will be creating all these listed here as events on the pages.

In time I may get adventurous and use Publisher in a newsletter format, but for the moment with 10 Dream Rides events to organise and 3 new Charities you will have to accept this letter format. Of course if you are a budding or proficient publisher please offer help and I will gladly accept.

ALL THESE EVENTS LISTED REQUIRE CARS, DRIVERS AND HELPERS, let me know if you want to get involved and which event, how, what car, etc.

8th May Sunday               AG01 - 22nd Festival of 1000 Classic Cars at Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire

www.classicshows.org

Last year we had a Porsche 993 Targa, Nissan GTR35, Austin Healy and Audi R8 offering Dream Rides in splendid sunshine, we are again kicking the Dream Rides season off calmly at the Andrew Greenwood Classic Show. We are raising money for a new charity to the Bears, Wingate Children’s Centre - www.thewingatecentre.co.uk who offer Gymnastics training to disabled and disadvantaged children from many of the Children’s Hospices we also raise for across the whole of the UK.

22nd May Sunday            Luxury Motor Show – Goosedale Conference & Banqueting, Nottingham

www.luxurymotorshow.com

We have been invited to attend this inaugural event in the Nottingham Area (OK it’s nearly North West ISH!) which if the Press Day photo shoot on a cold January is anything to go by will be a fantastic chance for like-minded owners, enthusiasts and admiring members of public to network,

socialise and share their passion with some exotic sports and supercars on display.  Dream Rides with our cars will of course offer that final WOW at the event and a charity has yet to be agreed and suggestions will be looked at by local drivers to the event.

29th-30th May Sunday/Monday AG02 -30th Cheshire Classic Car Show, Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire

www.classicshows.org

The first of 3 events at Capesthorne Hall, Jacobean backdrop and another Andrew Greenwood Classic Car Show event. 2010 over 2 days saw a Porsche GT3, Subaru Impreza, Austin Healy, Audi R8 and last of the Mini Coppers offering Dream Rides in sunshine over two days, Dream Rides here offers great driving roads with the full support of the team at Andrew Greenwood shows we are raising money for Claire House Childrens Hospice as last year here - www.claire-house.org.uk as we will be at the next two Capesthorne Hall events aswell.

11th-12th June Saturday/Sunday              Chester Motor Show      Chester

In 2010 Chester held its first Dee 106.2 Radio Motor Show, although challenging as it is a local trade/family entertainment show we had a great selection of cars, Sunbeam LHD, Porsche 993 and 996 twin turbo, Westfield Megablade, Evo9 Rally car, Lotus Exige and the most fun award was Keiths Peugeot 306 Sprint Car – O and did I forget to mention to the passengers he was the East Lancs Sprint Champion in 2010, 2009, 2008 – you get the picture!  The show is extended to two days and we are again raising money for Claire House Children’s Hospice www.claire-house.org.uk and have the support here of Porsche Chester offering a Porsche 911 Rothmans Rally car that pops and crackles and a Fiat Abarth Evo to start the proceeds.

2nd July Saturday            Liverpool One Dream Rides at Liverpool One (well Leeds Castle is in Kent!)

In 2010 CPoP created a week of activities that included our Dream Rides on three weekend shopping  days and we have been invited back as the main event this year. We will have a static display from Porsche and Audi in separate areas and we have invited members of Supercar Driver www.supercardriver.com to display with us. Last time we had a Subaru Impreza, Nissan GTR35, Mercedes 230SL convertable, Porsche 964 Turbo, Jaguar XK convertable, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Ultima GTR, Audi R8 V10, Porsche 911 Rothmans Rally car, Porsche Panemera, oh and 27degrees heatwave one Saturday and torrential rain the following Saturday! We are again raising money for Claire House Children’s Hospice www.claire-house.org.uk and have the support here of Porsche Chester offering a Porsche 911 Rothmans Rally car that pops and crackles and a Fiat Abarth Evo to start the proceeds complimented with an Audi R8 from Liverpool Audi and a Bentley Supersports from those lovely chaps and chapesses in Crewe. Our challenge here is to tempt the shoppers to donate £40 on a Dream Ride instead of £40 on a shirt that will still be on the hanger next week, although one members wife managed to spend more at John Lewis’ in one day than we raised over three!!!!

15th-17th July Friday/Saturday/Sunday  Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, Cholmondeley Castle

www.cpop.co.uk

For all the right reasons this event is the biggest in the NW calendar for Dream Rides as we are again invited back to show what Dream Rides is all about to the public. Last year we had 30 cars each day and now this event is launching its Friday Press Day where Dream Rides will gear up and warm up for the main event on Saturday and Sunday. We are limited on space here and anyone wishing to offer a car for Dream Rides or help on the booking desk MUST get in touch immediately as this will operate a complete list and reserve list for both cars and helpers.

As Lord Cholmondeley is the President we are raising money for Wingate Children’s Centre - www.thewingatecentre.co.uk who offer Gymnastics training to disabled and disadvantaged children from many of the Children’s Hospices we also raise for across the whole of the UK.

24th July Sunday              Bodelwyddan Castle      A55, North Wales

www.classicshows.org

The second year Andrew Greenwood shows are at Bodelwyddan Castle looking out onto the Irish Sea and they have asked if we would like join them in 2011 to show North Wales what Dream Rides is all about.  With the full support of the team at Andrew Greenwood shows we are looking for a local Children’s Charity to support.

31st July Sunday               The 6th Classic Sports Car Sunday            Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire

www.classicshows.org

The second of 3 events at Capesthorne Hall with Andrew Greenwood and we are raising money for Claire House Childrens Hospice - www.claire-house.org.uk but we have not attended this particulat show so it will be interesting to compare the Sportscar Show to the Classic Car Show at Capesthorne Hall with Andrew Greenwood.

28th Aug              The 31st Cheshire Classic Car & Motorcycle Show             Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire

www.classicshows.org

The final event at Capesthorne Hall with Andrew Greenwood and we are raising money for Claire House Childrens Hospice - www.claire-house.org.uk and last year we had Lotus Elise, 1958 Aston Martin MkIII, Peugeot 306 Sprint, Porsche 997 from Monks Heath Motors, Ferrari Dino, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Maserati Spyder and a Jaguar XK all helping raise money at the show.

Finally I am trying to finalise a Childrens Charity Dream Rides day hopefully at Aintree Motor Circuit or other suitable secure track where we can take children and siblings from the Charities we have helped in the North West for a controlled ride in our cars on a track at sensible speeds. This will not be a fundraising day and will NOT be a track day either. Only the approved people (Marshalls, Sporting Bears, Charities) will be on site due to the nature of the children on site and the cars involved. This is now looking more like a weekday as the course will be required to close the Golf Centre while we are there and they already lose too much revenue from Sprint Days on the circuit. Please let me know if you feel “subject to final date” that you would be able to offer support with a car or as a helper on a weekday, possibly end August or mid October?

We are again being supported by CES UK Ltd, www.cesuk.com and their online store is www.autosessive.com who many NEC Bears will recall sponsored the Live Stage next to Dream Rides 2010, so if you need car parts please check them out first, they do have a specialist department for Classic Car exhausts and turbo and phrase their area of expertise as everything from intake to exhaust out. They will also pattern manufacture parts from your drawings if required.

Bentley are also looking to support us with cars at some selected events and joint sponsors for our Children’s Charity Dream Rides event once agreed. Of course if you are looking to buy a Bentley check out the Supersports at your local dealer, for those that saw it at the NEC I think certain preconceptions were changed dramatically!

Porsche Chester www.porschehost.com/home.asp?opc=chester – they started supporting Dream Rides last year at Liverpool One and CPoP with te owners personal 911 Rothmans Rally car and another from fleet. The most interesting being the Hybrid – just too quiet, especially compared to the spits and crackles of the Rally Car!

We have also been well supported behind the scenes by Hobs Reprograhics www.hobsrepro.com  Chester for printing, Speedy Hire www.speedyhire.com  (Wrexham) for pedestrian barriers and Site Link Communications for Radio Hire www.sitelink.co.uk .

Is this blatant – YES, as it is very difficult to compliment all your hard work and effort from setting up, talking to people, driving passengers out on Dream Rides without a certain before the day support from these companies, so if you have the chance to support them back with affecting your own budget then please support those that have supported the Bears and maybe mention that in conversation after you have placed the order with them to mention to their bosses. It all helps keep the gear wheels oiled and moving in our direction.

Finally, to all those who do not know me yet, hello, to all those who have just joined welcome aboard and to all those who helped at one or all events in 2010 thank you. All I ask is that you have fun with the Bears on your days with us, always be happy to say NO to me when I ask too much as I am never offended, but remember I will always invite you to every event I am involved with but do not expect you to be able to help at every event.

I can be contacted on 07969 877120 or emailed on maxnw-sbmc@hotmail.co.uk, follow our antics in the NW on face book immediately at Sporting Bears Max and later in the Bears magazine and www.sportingbears.org.uk website.

Cheers all, Max Walker
