You are warmly invited to join in the fun on our fifth Highland Fling.  We will be based at the Lovat Arms in Fort Augustus.  This totally refurbished 3*, family-run hotel offers 4* levels of contemporary comfort, service and food and will be our base for your 3-night stay.

Arrive on Friday afternoon for afternoon tea then relax in one of the comfortable lounges and meet fellow participants before preparing for a 3-course dinner.  Perhaps you could fit in a walk alongside the five lock Caledonian Canal staircase which is close by to work up an appetite.

On Saturday we plan to take you over the bridge to Skye with an opportunity to stop en route at Eilean Donan Castle for coffee.  How much of Skye you will be able to explore will depend upon how early you rise and leave the hotel and how many miles you are happy to drive.  On the southern Sleat Peninsula is the ruin of Armadale Castle with the Museum of the Isles and the Clandonald Centre in its grounds.  It is possible to return to the mainland by ferry leaving from Armadale.  Sunday again offers options with a cruise on Loch Ness in the morning then a drive around the Loch, stopping off to visit Castle Urquart, in the afternoon.  A visit to the Culloden Battle Field and the new visitor centre and interactive exhibition can be made as part of the drive.  Our homeward journey on Monday will end in Newtonmore with a visit to the award-winning open air Highland Folk Museum.  Let’s hope the weather is as kind as it was on our hood-down reccie – 3 days of blue skies and blue water!

As is now traditional, the black tie 4-course Gala Dinner on Saturday will be preceded by a champagne reception with canapes to set the mood for the evening.

The Lovat can accommodate 40 people. All rooms are individual in style, size and decoration and enjoy views of the surrounding area.  Because of this choice the cost of this fund-raising weekend ranges from £215/£250/

£277.50/£300/£345 per person for 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast, plus a donation of £25 per person for CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland).  Your donation is in lieu of an entry fee.  A reduced rate has been negotiated for up to 4 rooms being available for single occupancy.  Check out the 5 grades of room available on the hotel’s website www/thelovat.com.  Visitor attraction entry charges and ferry or boat fares are additional.

Anyone from “South of the Border” should consider planning a holiday in Scotland around the Highland Fling.  The Lovat offers the same very special rates for anyone wishing to extend their stay.  For a Tour Application Form, Gift Aid Form and to book or discuss accommodation, please contact me
