NO
EXCUSES
Home
Well,
I have taken part in none of the events.
I have nothing to add to the web site.
I have no photos.
I have not organised anything.
I am not planning to organise anything.
I am not going to flood you with anything, apart from excuses.
My Healey went all tired and needed a front suspension rebuild.
He ( She? I have never really determined the sex of a big Healey - she
is
tough like a bloke, but has the temperament of the fairer sex ) became
rather unpredictable. If I turned the wheel, it was a matter of some
debate
as to where she would be in those delicate seconds as the bend
developed.
Mostly, because I had grown to judge her predilection to irrational
response to instruction, she ended up almost where I expected. However,
there was always that slight tension when entering a curve at a speed
which
the road traffic sign suggested was irresponsible and created an odd
response in one's nether regions. It did not take long, although there
seemed to be a fair number of new pennies involved, to arrange the front
suspension so that he (editor's note: why the sex change?) became
predictable, confident and responsive as every bend became a curve and
the
steering wheel felt like ........... (editor's note: this is a family
club).
Second excuse: my Alvis although always willing to turn out for any
event
that would raise some money for the Hope House Hospice in Shropshire and
Mid Wales some how got stuck in the garage at home. My excuse is the
impending arrival of our first grand child, who does not yet appreciate
that autumn is fast approaching and that the opportunity for relaxed
comfortable motoring is fast disappearing for this year. The fact that
his/her great grandmother has a regular appointment in the Alvis with
the
open air on Boxing Day each year seems to have escaped him/her - better
to
stay in a comfortable protected environment until grandfather and great
grand mother get sensible, perhaps.
So, plenty of excuses, perhaps justifying my lack of participation. This
does not mean that I am not supportive of the"raison d'etre"
for Sporting
Bears, and, I am sure, the Healey would be also if he ("she"
spent it all)
had any cash left!
Regards, Mike.
