STAND BY FOR ACTION All systems are GO for a supercharged year of events. Tours are organised, lunches booked, shows planned and the Dream Rides schedule is in progress. Check out WHAT'S NEXT for your diary dates. HUNGRY BEARS An excellent turnout for the Christmas lunch at Auchen Castle, with one member being so keen that he went twice! To save his embarrassment I won't divulge his name. "Mind your backs, please!"
NEW MEMBERS Good to meet Mrs and Mrs Lumsden at Auchen Castle. Ian has some very interesting cars with V8 power - what an excellent chap! Also Vanda was photographed clutching a bottle of Scotch - seems like they are going to fit in just fine! WELL I NEVER! The V8 engine is actually European in origin. The first V8 was a 1903 Ader racer, and V8's were built in small numbers by several makers, including Rolls-Royce and Adams between 1905 and 1909. GUEST OF HONOUR At Auchen CastleTony formally introduced the new Polar region figure-head, the Right Hon "Sir Polar Bear" SBMC (P.B. to his friends, and what a handsome chap he is! (The bear that is, not Tony.)
DONATIONS Many thanks to all those who donated raffle prizes for the Christmas lunch. The superb 17 prizes raised the sum of £88, retained for future presentation to a suitable nominated children's charity. When you're a bear you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for 6 months. I Could Deal With That. Before you hibernate you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I Could Deal With That. When you're a girl bear you give birth to your children, who are the size of a walnut, while you are sleeping, and wake to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I Could Definitely Deal With That. If you're a Mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too. I Could Deal With That. If you're a bear your mate expects you to wake up growling. He expects that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat YUP, GONNA BE A BEAR!! (thanks to Kathy Catchpole) CELEBRATIONS
359 IS FINISHED? You'll never 'B'elieve it, Jim's latest car is ...wait for it....a 'B', or at least that's what it's been called on numerous occasions during the last 5 months. Thanks to Shaun for the scale model. Is that what it's supposed to look like? ..Ooops! Thanks to Mike for the interest and encouragement. When he asked "What is it?" I replied "A 'B'". "Oh" he returned, "What colour is it?" "Red" I replied. "How original" he responded. Never mind, it's done now. Is it finished? No comment. Will I keep it? No comment.
